Star Wars – The Machete Order

In honour of Star Wars day yesterday we decided to watch a Star Wars movie.

Which one you may ask?

Ever since the release of episodes 1, 2 and 3, people have questions which order to watch the movies in.

Should they be watched in release order? 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3?  Should they be released in event order? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

This becomes even more interesting when you have a friend who has never seen any of the movies.

I have one such friend (Miss K) and her partner (Mr D) put me on to the machete order.
Miss K had never seen the movies and her partner, a mutual friend and I decided to indoctrinate her.
Unfortunately we decided to use the event order. Anyone who sees Episode 1 first is unlikely to stick around for episode 2.

Sorry George, but seriously!

So – Mr D put me onto the Machete Order of watching the movies.  I won’t go into detail (follow the link) but I will tell you the order is:
4, 5, 2, 3, 6.  No episode 1.

We are currently watching the movies in machete order.  We started with 4, then 5, last night we watched 2, tonight we might watch 3.
That is the type of crazy people we are.

Get to that high ground Obi-wan, and may the fourth be with you.

  1. Still on my list of things to do…perhaps when you come back to sunny Adelaide we can have a movie marathon and do the machete!

  2. Just read the link – Machete Order is genius. Thinking of this was possibly the single best thing to have happened since Lucas ruined everything with Episode One. I propose Pete Order in relation to the Blues Brothers films, as follows: watch the original movie, refuse to acknowledge any sequel exists.
